blazing fires of autumn

Visionary Poems

blazing fires of autumn

glow all about

as the year rolls on

trees shed their leaves

falling as

blades of bronze

that pierce the late afternoon gloom

and spears of gold

which glint in the pale sun

while huge bright rubies

of cast off foliage

shine their last

and cascade

toward the waiting ground below

like a resplendent waterfall

catching the evening light

a glorious finale

to the great season of colour
