Do You Know?

I’ve found that luck is quite predictable. If you want more luck, take more chances. Be more active. Show up more often.

Brian Tracy

Do you know?
how many poets
there are in this big wide world.
some of them young, some, very old.
yet all of them so bold,
even in this cold world
that would not hold their hand
when they try to hold, gold
within the lines of their rhymes.

Do you know?
how many pens bleed
to satiate the need
of plenty pensive poets
to feed off writing against greed
so that they one day have the strength
to walk with smile a mile in length
to make the world heed
the poetry of life that has for so long freed
many lovers of life in ages long before.

I know!
poets that have gone mad
off the feeling of being glad
that they actually became sad
like a dad who had
just lost his daughter dead
having bled from being fed poison bread.

I know!
of plenty practitioners of poetry
whose history is rooted like a tree
in losing themselves in a reality
conjured up by their ability
to swim the deep depths
of their imagination.

I know?
there are many poets
in this big wide world.
some of them young, and some, very old.
yet all of them so bold,
even in this cold world
that will not hold their hand
when they try to hold, gold
within the lines of their rhymes
