The Music is playing

All things respond to the call of rejoicing. All things gather where life is a song.

James Allen

The music is playing
But you are not hearing
The music is playing
But you’re not listening
The music is playing
But you are not dancing
The music is playing
But you’re not singing
The music is playing
But you are not rejoicing.

Oh how I feel for you
Who is not rejoicing
Oh how I feel for you
Who is not listening, and dancing
For joy, even though the music is playing.

  1. I read it as sth that targets ppl who are perfectionists and how they are never satisfied no matter how much they get or achieve it still means nothing to them waiting to achieve that big dream which may or may not come true when the healthiest way to live is to cherish also the small stuff … (i went far, sorry) but Great work ! 💝🙈

    1. No need to be sorry, I’m glad you went further than the surface of the poem. Actually now that I think on it, it’s possible that the music (of small stuff) could be playing but a perfectionist wouldn’t hear it, since they’re only interested in listening to the music of perfection

      1. And they will never be satisfied until they convince themselves that honestly perfection doesn’t exist and this whole journey is just a quest with no guarantees … 🙈 please gave a great day/night friend! 💝🙈

  2. What a beautiful poem. Music should be an evocative experience. Listening to it is like poetry and it will hit you in so many different ways, only if you allow yourself to immerse in it. By not truly listening or allowing yourself to enjoy it, one is depriving themselves of that experience.

This is what I feel like encompasses this beauty of a poem. It is very visceral, evocative and fantastic. I really adore the repetition too. What an excellent piece!
