Learning French

Education costs money. But then so does ignorance.

Sir Claus Moser

I am learning, a new language
I am learning, how to speak, French
Even though it’s hard, at my age
My desire to learn, French, will quench
My thirst for a learning acquisition device.

I am learning, how to speak French
I’ve only just begun
But so far it has been fun
For I am learning, how to say
Je suis Lazarus
When someone asks me for my name
And I can say
Merci beaucoup
When someone goes out of their way
just to help me.

I am excited to be learning
How to speak the romantic language
For now I can say
Bonsoir Madame, comment ça va?
When I’m greeting ladies
And I can reply with
Ça va tres bien, et toi?
When they ask me how I am doing.

I am learning, how to speak French
And I’m glad to say I’m fascinated
By the fact that words have gender.
Like how fille is feminine
And garçon is masculine.

I am learning, how to speak French
My love story with it has only just begun
So I’m looking forward to learning
And improving my vocabulary
In this interesting language.
