What the sages say, Will never come my way

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

“Practice makes perfect.” The sages say
“Practice so perfection may come your way.”

But the sages never said perfection will come my way
That I will keep practicing until my very last day
And yet, a visit to me perfection will never pay.

Why then? I wonder why the sages say
“Practice, practice, practice every day
If you want perfection to come your way.”

Perhaps they want me to waste my time
chasing unattainable dreams?
Mayhap’s they think I’m a fool
so it’s best to keep me busy doing useless things?

Maybe they think it’s simply better to take the journey
Without ever arriving to your destination?
Perhaps it’s simply best to get closer, and closer
Without where you want to be getting any nearer?

Nobody really knows
Except the sages

  1. It’s an ambiguous journey in which we don’t know if we will ever reach where we won’t or worst case scenario die one staircase away from that destination you quite longed for and worked so many yrs to get to~😭🙈 loved how you brought the topic to light~🥰
