‘Oh Ear’ a Sonnet

When your body moves, your brain grooves.

Jim Kwik

Well hello there friend. How are you doing today? Very well I hope.

Thanks for stopping by, your presence here always fills me with gratitude.

This year, I shed a tear not only in honor of those who lost their lives to the global pandemic that’s taken the world by storm, but also for all those times I missed out on blogging.

I won’t beat myself up too much for not blogging as much as wanted to, instead I’ll prime myself to be a better blogger next year.

It is exactly because I haven’t been blogging consistently, however, that I’m really appreciative for the fact that my blog has kept on growing.

It is because of people like you who take time out to visit even when I’m not here. For that, I wish you all the best for the coming new year.

For today, I will be sharing a sonnet I composed recently in the hope that it enhances your day in any way whatsoever. If it does don’t be shy to let me know in the comment section, I’m always happy to hear from you.

So without further adue…

Oh Ear!’ how happy I am you are here.
I know you’ve been by my side my whole life,
But before I could never see you clear,
So I’d not know if you could hear my voice.
But now that I can see you I can say
That without you my life would have been dull.
I don’t know without you beside my skull
If I’d even be able to dance for joy.
In fact, I’m not sure I want to find out.
I can’t imagine my life without you.
A life where to listen I have no clue
Will surely lead me to kick the bucket
For life’s a song and it demands dancing
But I can’t dance if I’m not listening.

Gratitude Journal #3

Greetings and salutations my beautiful people.

How are you doing today? Very well I hope.

As always, arigato for visiting a pensive poets blog, and for reading his expressions of creativity.

I’m always honored to have you here looking at the world through my eyes. My gratitude is always at its best when you are here.

For today, I’m sharing yet another gratitude entry, not only because I want to kill the two birds of updating my blog and embracing gratitude to elevate my mood, with the one stone of gratitude journaling; but also because I hope to inspire you to embrace gratitude, the best attitude, too.

Gratitude Journal #2

Konnichiwa my friends.

Merci beaucoup for visiting my blog today.

Today, I just wanted to share an entry from my Gratitude Journal with you, not only to elevate my thoughts and thus my emotions and feelings, or to emphasize the powerful nature of words, but mostly to inspire you to look at life through the lens of gratitude and positivity.

So without further adue…

A letter to my 13 year old self

You’re going to go through tough times – that’s life. But I say, ‘Nothing happens to you, it happens for you.’ See the positive in negative events.

Joel Osteen

Hi there Laza, this is me, you actually from the future and I’m sure you are doing well wherever you are.

I am writing you this letter to encourage you to keep dreaming the dreams you dream.

I’m writing to let you know that you’ve carved out an amazing life for yourself.

At twenty-two, I, you, am doing quite well. In fact you can tell from the big smile on my face. This is all thanks to the actions you’ve taken to ensure I tread the path of life whilst looking through the lens of growth.

I know that at 13 you’re still just a boy, growing into a man. That you have not yet picked the pen as your passion, and poetry as the weapon you will wield to slay your demons.

And so I won’t burden you with the worries of life. Just know that your heart will show you the way, and that your mind will  show you how to find the way, to what it is you really want.

I want to thank you, for being you, and to ask you, to continue doing so. Continue being a curious cat. Never stop questioning,  your desire for answers will lead you on a journey of self-discovery, an Odyssey of self-mastery.

As a writer, I’d like to tell you to forget about being an engineer, but no, keep using it to motivate yourself, to perform at your brilliant best. There will be hardships that prevent you from being your best waiting for you in the future. But know you are strong enough to weather any storms that come your way.

There will especially come a time, when you will need to bleed in order to be freed from your prejudices. Don’t be scared of the pain, know that without it you will never gain the wisdom that you seek to gain.

Fear not to venture outside of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, believe you can overcome any discomfort.

Don’t forget to be grateful for all the good things in life. Be grateful for those you love, and thankful for those you don’t, those who serve as an example of what not to be.

Be grateful for what you have, and appreciative of what you don’t. Know that everything happens for a reason, that what did not happen, was not supposed to happen.

Realize that everything happens for your greater good. For your growth, as a spiritual being having a human experience.

But most of all, don’t dwell on the past, nor ponder too much about the future. Just be sure to enjoy every moment as it comes.

Be sure to be thankful for each day that comes your way.  Life is precious be careful not to let it pass you by.

Yours with much love and appreciation.

Thank you Universe
For life, and all its wonders

Thank you for the ability
To change my reality

Thank you Universe
For the opportunity
To traverse the path of life
And to observe all that is diverse
In this wonderful universe

Thank you Universe
For the inspiration
To write this verse
Thank you for life and love
For family, and friends
With whom I can converse
About the wonders of the universe.

Just be Glad

Gratitude is good.

when times are bad
because you lost a loved one
don't be sad
just be glad
because you are alive.

when times are bad
because you are homeless
i know it's hard
but just be glad
you are at home in the universe.

when times are bad
because your hearts been broken by a lover
i know you will hurt
but just be glad
you can still piece it back together.

when times are are bad
because someone stole your bed
now you can't sleep and dream deep
don't get mad
just be glad
you can dream without needing to sleep.

just be glad
no matter the weather
through good times
and bad times
just be glad
that you are not sad.

Balance

What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

Zig Ziglar

I am not
more grateful for my pen
that bleeds its blood out, to talk about
practicing to perfect practicing

Then i am
of my paper

Where i wield words
with a will, inspires me to hold, my quill with a skill
dazzles damsels distressed not to stress
and torn man not to morn, when there is less.
