You Are A Car | a Metaphor

Don’t believe everything you think

You are a car
and motivation is the key
that starts you
on your journey to success.
It is what ignites
the driving force within you
that pushes you to move
towards your goals.

Habits are the fuel
that keep you going
long after your motivation
has gone on a brake.

The Universe

Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going.

Jim Ryun

The universe
is like a giant classroom
and you are but a learner
with circumstance as your teacher
and everyone else your classmate.
Even though not all of us are good academics
we should never despair
for so long as we work together
to solve our problems
the sooner we will learn
to live, our lives
to the best of our abilities.

Bees of a sting

There are no traffic jams along the extra mile.

Roger Staubach

according to the principle of opposites attract
you and i were never supposed to meet.
i was an optimist and so where you
science did not want us together, but nature did
because busy bees of a sting swarm together.
so even though we were never supposed to meet
we did and the buzz of excitement I felt as i kissed you
was sweeter even than the honey taste of your lips.

Like a bee

Success is most often achieved by those who don’t know that failure is inevitable.

Coco Chanel

Like a bee
you were always busy
buzzing about in my brain
pollinating my mind with thoughts of you
so i began to dream and wonder
whether one day I’ll call you “Honey”.
but oh! how it stung
when i found out you are a queen
destined only for kings
too royal for a simple poet
whose only subject
is the topic of his poems

Morning Meditations

You will never plough a field if you only turn it over in your mind.

Irish proverb

morning meditations make me mindful
my minds a monkey

who is a maestro
in maneuvering between states of mind.

at times, moving from melancholic
to merrimental moods in just a few minutes.

at others, moving from merrimental
to melancholic in all but a few seconds.

thank goodness I’m learning
to master my mind like a monk

to keep it mired in merriment.
