My Motivational Mantra

The ordinary focus on what they’re getting. The extraordinary think about who they’re becoming.

Like an arrow aimed at its target
I am headed straight for success.

Nothing can halt me in my progress
For i know that obstacles will bar my way
And that struggles will leave me with many a scar
But I am a visionary, So I can clearly see far
Into my future of becoming a star
That shines the light of its positivity
In this dark world filled with negativity.

Sun

The most difficult thing is the decision to act, the rest is merely tenacity.

Amelia Earhart
Filled with light she was kind,
Queen of the clear blue skies.
Just like the sun
I saw her sitting pretty
On her throne in the air,
Looking radiant,
Having fun shining in the sky.
Just waiting for me to fly
Like a bird up high,
To join her in bringing rays
Of light to those used to darkness.
Even when i thought
The night would never end
Just like the sun
She rose early every morning
Before even the bright bird.
And just like the sun
I raged out
With passion the song
Of my love
To her.
Will she hear me?

The Poets Peace

This piece was inspired by a poem (titled ‘Moon’) i enjoyed, which was composed by Liyona on her blog. This piece is my version to the idea of contrasting celestial objects as well as the idea of encapsulating them in the idea of love.

Fear Not

The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.

The Emperor

Fear not!

For although the though times

Will stop you from making rhymes
That smile as they walk a mile
In eternal lines to time.

They will also

Sharpen you like
A whetstone on a knife
To make sure you can cut
Through the strife that seeks to end your life.

My fall from Eden

Just when the caterpillar thought the world was ending, he turned into a butterfly.

Proverb

It has been long since my fall from Eden.
That beautiful place that gave me much to eat.
Because apple trees prospered in the summer heat.
And red grapes tasted like a meal made in heaven.
By the Gods themselves to please my stomach.
So that my feet have the strength to tread the path.

Walked upon by those that came before me.

It has been long since my fall from Eden.
Now i am here, in the Jungle of Urban.
This atrocious place; that has not much to eat.
Nor a place in nature for a man to sit.
And ponder in silence like a scientist.

How best to spread love with an iron fist.

In Urban; my feet have walked on the path.
Not tread upon by the fore-brethren.
Whom my feet have lost all hope and faith.
Since its been long since my fall from Eden.

I have taken the path that leads deeper into Urban.

Since its been so long since my fall from Eden.
One day, when i was alone and lonely.
I decided to walk to the ceremony.

Where gathered were my modern day brethren.

To tell them that true bliss is indeed a wish.
Unless one decides to demolish.

The last lush green Garden in Eden.

An Ode to Meditation

Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.

Benjamin Franklin

I sat, cross-legged like a monk
Preparing for his session
Of mindful meditation
In the comfort of the park.

I begin to close my eyes
Whilst bringing focus to breath
Of body, and that of earth
Out of which grow the lotus.

Deeply, i start to inhale
Gathering all the tension
In my lungs till retention
Of air i fail, so exhale.

------------------------------------------------------

Oh meditation! the guide
Into the realms of my soul,
Teaching me better control
Of my emotional state.

------------------------------------------------------

Oh meditation!

-------------------------------------------------------

Are you aware how i feel
When my thoughts begin to clear
And i start to lose all fear,
Being tuned into what is real?

Oh meditation! I feel;
The light breeze cooling my skin,
The warmth of rays from the sun,
That my scars begin to heal.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I sat, cross-legged like a monk
By the ocean at sunset.
Waves crashing into feet
That are accustomed to walk.

With a mantra in my mind
And strong intent from my heart
I loudly begin to chant
To the rhythm of the west wind,

That blows distant sounds my way.

-------------------------------------------------------------

Oh meditation!

--------------------------------------------------------------

You blessed me with the present
Of practicing my presence
So i could grasp the essence
Of the now present moment.

Oh meditation! my thanks
For opening my chakras
And for reducing my stress
Levels from more to less.

Jack of all Trades, Master of One

oh! sing to me bard
of that tale not so long ago
lived by he with the Midas touch.

the tale of he that had a plan
to always do the best he can.

he was like the philosopher's stone
turning lead into gaudy gold
and bad art into a sight to behold.

he that foretold the future
weather or not he was sure
or in his profession mature.

his eyes looked to the sky
and like a bird wanted to fly
so build a plane he did try

so those that had before failed
come to be the masses that hailed
him as his device was unveiled.

he that possesses the Midas touch
could leave many a fine mistress
yearning for the warmth of his caress.

but, if ever he must confess
then let it be known he left many in distress
on his quest to win the game of chess.

the Jack of all trades Master of one
was skilled in a great many disciplines
one of which could never be undone
as he was master of ending his home.

Pensive Poet

pen
and paper
in my hand

i write
as a form
of self expression.

on empty canvas
my mind runs free
as the ink spills

i flow
with the current
that fuels my desire to write

my words
aspire to inspire
a fire within the average Joe

And as my ink begins to run low
My ideas begin to overflow
Until i have written a river of words.

Shared Shed Tears

Image by vishnu vijayan from Pixabay

If today
I should wake up dead

Show the world
The tears i never shed.

As if by shedding them now
I somehow shed them time and time again
That way the world would remember the pain
That was brought about by yesterdays shame.

Be sure to claim
My part of the blame
In what came
To be known as the era
Of way too many an error
That led to the terror
Of our social weather.

Its all sun
And clear blue skies
When lies are being televised

So do not act surprised
When the price
Of good deeds starts to rise
To fulfill the needs of our greed.

We need to heed
That making each other bleed
Is not the way to lead-
Ourselves into a future where-
We do not need
To plead in order to be freed
From the grasp of the things we did.

We endorse war
In always wanting more.

Yet, what we're fighting for
Kills more people by the score
Then the petty wars
That leave our floors
Littered with the proof of our flaws.

If today
I should wake up dead.

Show the world
The tears i never shed.

As if by shedding them now
I somehow shed them time and time again.
That way the world would remember the bloodshed
That was brought about by the violence we shared.

The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the one who will win.
